Trinny Cuts Her Coat

There is no denying, coats are expensive. They don’t necessarily date as quickly as shoes but they definitely are of their era. Picture coat silhouettes from just a few decades of the past century…

  • The 20’s – unstructured balloon
  • The 50’s – nipped in waist and flared skirt
  • the 60’s – straight duster with ¾ sleeves
  • the 70’s – belted trench

…see what we mean? On the positive side, coats are incredibly adaptable garments – change the belt, change the buttons, wear the collar up or down or, if it is totally dated, remodel the whole coat. Trinny took one of her old favourites and made it new by shortening it, using the fabric cut from the hem to create new lapels and, finally, reshaping the front closure.

Now that old coat is totally up-to-date and ready for the next decade!

Do you remodel your clothes? Tell us about it or, better still, send us pictures!

I have a question for Trinny
there was a picture in the paper at the latter part of last year wearing a pair of rolled up jeans, navy blazer and some gold metallic wedge shoes. Think you were at Scotts
I absolutely adored your shoes and have been trawling the internet trying to find them, so far the nearest I can find is Lanvin Ballet wedge. Please put me out of my misery and tell
    who’s make they are??

    many thanks

BTW love all your posts so enlightening!!!
